About The Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments
The Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments is also known as the Craighalbert Centre.
At Craighalbert, we are dedicated to helping children and young people from birth to 19 years old with complex communication, learning, health, and care needs, reach their full potential.
Recognised by the Scottish Government as a specialist provider, we support children across Scotland with complex communication, learning, health, and care needs. We offer nursery and school placements at our specialist centre, while our tailored programmes also support children who have an existing neurological condition or are at risk of developing one.
Our experienced and highly skilled team work together to create a nurturing, supportive environment where every child can thrive, focusing on developing learning, communication, and life skills. We specialise in assistive technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) solutions to empower children with complex communication needs, ensuring every child has a voice.
At Craighalbert, we understand the crucial role families play in a child’s journey. That’s why we work closely with parents and carers, providing guidance, resources, and practical strategies to help them support their child’s development both at home and in the community.
By sharing and demonstrating best practices, we not only help individual children but also contribute to improving support for families across Scotland. Together, we can open up new possibilities for children with complex communication, learning, health and care needs and give them the best chance to live happy, fulfilling lives.
