Helen Simon MSc, retired Advisory Teacher and an Assistive Technologist in Education: Bridging the Attainment Gap in Education.

Helen was a SEND teacher with 30 years of experience. She was an Advisory Teacher and an Assistive Technologist supporting pupils who find education a challenge, SEND and pupils with Acquired Brain Injury.  Her company provided training and support for children, young people, teachers and parents. Helen assessed students for assistive technology (AT) and develops teaching and learning strategies that enable them to reach their personal potential, desired outcome and learning independence. She worked as part of the professional teams in all educational settings.

Helen has taken part in the research of the outcomes for students that use AT in Education. Helen has had articles published in educational magazines. She has lobbied parliament through the All-Parliamentary Group on AT and has supported the EdTech Team at the DfE who are working towards improving the IT and AT facilities in schools across the UK.
